Divinatör combination of advantages. This solution, the Divinatör as we call it today, we find it in France with my brother when were facing long days without catch. I remember at that moment we were preparing our strategy before the most important French pike tournament.
Every lures seemed to be inefficient although the blades of our spinner trend to interest the smallest pikes and our soft plastic shad was bite really short and the pikes never swallow it. At this time we though if we can find a trick to catch the numerous pikes of that lake it will be a huge advantage for the next tournament. That’s why we started to install a blade to our soft plastic shad.
The results were out of this world, we were the first anglers to use this new pattern on the lake and we caught so many pikes it was just like we were fishing in another lake. We though that we really found something never tested before for pike fishing and we were really confident with this new pattern. Effectively during the week-end of this tournament we easily finish first rank thanks to this incredible pattern. For the other anglers the fishing days was tough, the pikes seemed to be inactive.
We understood something really important concerning that fish, regardless of whether the fish are active or not, it is always possible to make them react. The pikes have a hunting instinct, and they protect their territory. A lure that will come to disturb them can be considered as an enemy. Before we launch this product on the European market there was none of reaction lures especially designed for pike, that’s why the new product became really quick the best patterns for the tournament anglers in France.
For my opinion the metal lures are well adapt when the pikes are active but the fishes are not feeding anytime. Sometimes their activity level is going down and I think this is the right time to change for a soft lure. The best soft lures for pike are special, they must have a nice tail action but without too much water turbulence. In many case a smooth and soft tail vibration is the best. Concerning the colors, white is one of the classic but sometimes flashy colors such as Atomik or Ivory can be deadly.
The biggest advantage of the soft plastic is that their able to go deeper depending of the weight of your jighead of course. That’s why soft plastic shads are among the essential basic for pikes. During the pike session it’s important to alternate those lures of choice, metal lures and soft one to discover which one is the most adapt at that moment. Concerning the action of the lures there is no rules, sometimes the action need to be really slow and some other days without knowing why you need to accelerate the speed of your retrieve to make them react. Some other times it’s far more complicated to make them react because they are following but striking neither metal lures nor soft ones.
